40 x 2, ATA-33, 12 inch Dual Connector. IDE cables are designed to connect internal IDE devices in your computer to the motherboard. The devices would include; CD-ROMs, Zip Drives, Hard Drives, DVD-ROMs, CD Burners, etc… IDE slots on the motherboard can only support up to 2 devices. This Cable will support only 1 Device. Some IDE cables have 3 connectors. Those cables are for cases or situations where you need to (or may need to) connect up to 2 Devices, have a longer cable or to have some variety and options to place the devices where you choose!!

  • Separate IDE cable connections for hard drives and CD ROMs are recommended. Sharing IDE cable between hard drive and CD ROM may slow access to your hard drive.
  • All new motherboards should already come with one IDE cable. However, a second IDE cable is recommended if you have more than one IDE device.
