Amazing stories of far-away lands and remarkable characters. This wonderful cartoon collection features the very best and most-loved characters of all time. From the beautiful shores of the Emerald Isle (full of leprechauns and magical creatures, of course), to the astonishing life of Tom Thumb, to the breathtaking land of the immortal Oz. The brilliant animation and colorful individuals in this fantastic compilation will entertain you and your family for countless hours.

Somewhere in Dreamland - 1936 - 8 minutes, 54 seconds - Color - Animated - A poignant story of two poor children who are out collecting firewood when they pass by a toy store, market and finally a bakery. They drool over the wares in the bakery window but walk away before the owner can come out and present them with two cupcakes. The kids go home and eat a meager supper before going to bed. They both dream they are in dreamland, where everything is free--cookies, candy, cakes, popcorn and toys. When they wake up it's all gone but the three merchants have stopped by to lay out a huge feast for them. Lovely story with timeless music. Fun for kids of all ages.

The Wizard Of Oz - 1933 - 8 minutes, 30 seconds - Black & White/Color - Animated - A 1933 cartoon short directed by Ted Eshbaugh, it was originally made in Technicolor. Unfortunately, soon thereafter, Walt Disney signed an exclusive agreement with the Technicolor corporation, thus holding up release of Eshbaugh's short. Black and white copies eventually made it into the hands of collectors, and in the late 1980s it was finally released on home video, with computer colorization. The cartoon begins in black and white and turns into color as Dorothy falls out of the cyclone into Oz (this was six years before the live-action MGM version). Unlike the MGM film, this cartoon does not have the Cowardly Lion as a cast member. Dorothy's dog is unnamed.

The Emerald Isle - 1949 - 6 minutes, 56 seconds - Color - Animated - This series was of animated cartoons that take popular songs of the day and combined Famous Studios animated stars in an effort for audience singalongs.
Singalong with spot gags about Ireland. Groan along at every corny pun derived from every cliche and song about Irish people and Ireland known to man.

The Kids In The Shoe - 1936 - 7 minutes, 18 seconds - Color - Animated - The old lady who lives in a shoe has a bit of trouble with her gaggle of children. They won't eat their porridge, won't brush their teeth or comb their hair, and as soon as their mother is in bed they launch a wild party, doing a swinging rendition of Smiley Burnette's classic Mama Don't Allow No Music Playing Round Here. The threat of castor oil for the kids- which turns out to be a good belt of cider for Mom- puts things right.

Bold King Cole - 1948 - 8 minutes - Color - Animated - Forced by a horrific storm to seek cover for the night, Felix knocks at the palace door of boastful Old King Cole. Felix and King Cole are threatened by the ghosts of Cole's ancestors. The king and his minions are terrified of the night, but the king, putting on his best face, lets Felix in and begins his constant bragging, which the palace's ghosts can't stand. So the ghosts take the living spirit out of the king and haunt him with his own tall tales, and literally turning the tables on the old gasbag. Felix finally destroys the ghostly hordes with bolts of lightning and rescues Old King Cole.

Sinbad The Sailor - 1935 - 7 minutes - Color - Animated - Sinbad battles a band of pirates (including a hearty, liquor-swilling pirate chief) at sea and on a tropical isle. A giant bird rescues Sinbad and flies off with him, and he ends up back on his ship with the pirates' treasure. The pirate flag takes on different expressions. All of the dialogue is sung to music. Watch for a brief, stereotypical depiction of a very effeminate pirate.

Jack Frost - 1934 - 7 minutes, 58 seconds - Color - Animated - Jack Frost arrives in the forest, painting the leaves on the trees and warning the animals to prepare for the winter. An inquisitive young grizzly bear decides he wants to see what the world looks like when everyone else is hibernating. When Old Man Winter catches him unawares, however, he needs Jack Frost's help in getting back home to his warm bed.

Simple Simon - 1935 - 7 minutes - Color - Animated - Simple Simon, unable to control his appetite for pies, meets a pieman at the fair. Sampling pie but lacking a penny, Simon is chased by the pieman and escapes with a duck. A riot on the fairgrounds follows. Simon is vindicated when his duck wins a huge cash prize, allowing him to buy all the pies that he can. He's not so simple!

Tom Thumb - 1934 - ? - Black & White - Animated - Krazy Kat and his cat girlfriend are surrounded by their insect friends. After they dance around the forest, the girl gets kidnapped (catnapped?), but is rescued by Krazy Kat and the insects. The feline couple lives happily after after.

Picture-Quality varies on the DVD as each film has experienced the ravages of time!!
